From the Principal, November 2016

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are in the home stretch to the end of the trimester.  We are all working hard to finish strong.  Students and teachers are preparing for final projects and tests.  I encourage parents to talk with your students about grades and check Infinite Campus with them as well.  Your involvement as a parent and your partnership with their teachers are key to student success.

Beyond the academic classroom, we have been busy with our multiple service opportunities, the end of fall sports and the beginning of the winter season, the fall musical, our Irish Student visitors, our own mock election, and much more.

Even as our trimester is coming to an end, we are already gearing up to welcome new students and families to our community next school year.

Our first Open House was a great success.  We debuted a new format that gave prospective students and families a broad overview of our academic programs and the wide range of co-curricular activities such as fine arts, athletics, clubs and organizations.  We also hosted personal student-led, small group tours.  Our student tour guides were front and center giving our guest families a true sense of who we are at CDH. I heard many comments about how impressed these families were of our students.  Thank you to the student tour guides, the student hosts, our choir, band, JROTC and the many athletes and members of clubs and activities who assisted.   There were over 200 CDH student volunteers involved to show off the school they love.  I am so proud of them and to be their principal.

We are hosting another Open House on Thursday, November 10 at 6:30 p.m.  Please invite your friends and family to attend.   There will be one other Open House on January 9.   More information on the Admissions timeline can be found on our website.

I ask you to spend time each month reading this online Communicator.  This will be our best way to share the news of our school.  With the new monthly format, you will get an email with highlights from our electronic newsletter and easy links to more info on our News Hub.  Remember, you can always find the whole issue of the Communicator in our News Hub, available at anytime.

As we prepare for Thanksgiving, let me end by extending our gratitude to you, our community, for trusting us with your child and for your on-going support of the work we do at CDH.

May you and your family enjoy bountiful blessings this year.
