CDH has the Christmas Spirit

Throughout campus, the spirit of Christmas brings our community together to celebrate the holy season in many special ways, with a little bit of 'jolly,' too. 

CDH Athletics Teams Partner Up with Mauer Auto and Toys for Tots - December 2

Over 30 members of the CDH Boys and Girls Basketball programs were invited to spend the morning of December 2 at Mauer GMC in Inver Grove Heights assembling bicycles to be donated to Toys for Tots Twin Cities.

Choir Christmas Dinner & Cabaret - December 4

The Choir's annual Christmas Dinner & Cabaret fundraiser is held in the Lentsch Forum and is an evening filled with beautiful holiday music and a delicious meal, as well as a silent auction of masterpieces by CDH student artists.

Cookies and Cocoa with Santa - December 9

The Alumni Association hosts a "Cookies and Cocoa with Santa" event in the Lentsch Forum, inviting alumni, families, friends and community. JROTC cadets serve as Santa's elves and this year Alexa Wahlberg '26 played Christmas music on the piano.

Luminosa Concert - December 9

The CDH Choir took part in the Luminosa Festival at the Cathedral of St Paul this year. This is a festival of sacred choral Advent/Christmas music that is hosted by University of Mary, featuring several Catholic school choirs from across the Twin Cities and was followed by a European-style Christmas Market.

School Mass: The Immaculate Conception - December 8

The Immaculate Conception Mass was celebrated in the Joe Mauer Field House on Friday, December 8. The theme of the Mass this year was “Saying Yes to God's Invitation.”

Advent Reconciliation - December 12/13

Students were given the opportunity to participate in Advent Reconciliation during religion classes on Tuesday, December 12 and Wednesday December 13.

CASA Assembly and Donation Drive - December 15

CASA on Friday, December 15 will include an all-school assembly with the theme "A Very Merry CASA Christmas." There will be caroling, prayer and a surprise visitor, as well as a blessing of the donations (see CASA donation drive below)

CASA Donations Drive for Young Children and Babies - final collection day: December 15

In the spirit of giving and Advent, CASA families are encouraged to donate items for young children and babies as a part of "A Very Merry CASA Christmas" and will be blessing the donations on Friday at the CASA assembly by the same name, before the items are delivered. The donations are aimed towards babies and toddlers and include necessities like formula, diapers, and baby shampoo, seasonal needs like hats, boots, warm pajamas and coats, and more fun items like educational toddler toys. The donations will go to the Lewis House in Eagan, which is a shelter for women and children escaping domestic or sexual violence.

Community of Saints Christmas Party - December 15

Lasallian Youth at CDH have been celebrating Christmas with the pre-school and kindergarten children at Community of Saints school for 40 years. This year they will help make ginger bread houses, play games, read stories, sing songs, provide a gift for a 4 – 5 year old child, and visit Santa with the COS preschool and kindergarten children.

Christmas Band and Choir Concert - December 18

The annual Band and Choir Concert will be held in the Lillian Theater at CDH at 7 pm on December 18. Enjoy some beautiful Christmas repertoire before school winds down for break. This concert is free and open to all.

Silver Belle Ball Ball - December 26

The Silver Belle Ball is a Girls-Ask-Their-Dates dance that has always been held on December 26 and is hosted by the Cretin-Derham Hall Parents' Association. The dance was founded and previously hosted by the St. Joseph Academy Alumni Association (1950 to 2016). 

On December 6, Pass Down The Gown, created by Ruby Franzen '18, hosted a pop-up at CDH for this event where students could try on and rent donated gowns for free with a returnable deposit.
