CDH's 2020 in Review

2020 was a year unlike any other, but it brought some great things at Cretin-Derham Hall! Join us for a walk down memory lane and check out the top story from each month of 2020:
January - Beautiful Lentsch Forum Now Open
We kicked off 2020 with the ribbon cutting for our beautiful new gathering space. Little did we know that gathering would be off the table for a while, but the Lentsch Forum has already provided a great space for students to meet in person in a safely distanced way. We can't wait to use it for more gatherings with our community as soon as it's safe!
February - Baseball Welcomes New Head Coach
Mike Kvasnicka joined the CDH family in February, before the Spring sports season was canceled. He's sure to be a great addition to our baseball teams!
March - CDH Monitoring Coronavirus Risk
No surprise here - our community spent early March confused and nervous about the COVID-19 pandemic. It's been important to us all year to keep our families and community up-to-date and answer everyone's questions as clearly as possible.
April - Two Raiders Headed to the NFL
We were all stuck at home, and this great news about two of our alums brightened spirits!
May - Congratulations, Class of 2020!
We were so proud of how well the class of 2020 handled the unexpected loss of so many senior year traditions. They celebrated graduation with a drive-through cap and gown pickup in May and a delayed graduation ceremony at the cathedral in August.
June - Congratulations to Tri III Honor Roll Students!
In a trimester of online school, Raiders still managed to excel! Their hard work and determination stood out as they focused on academics in a world that was constantly changing.
Over the summer, students and families had a lot of questions about what the next school year would look like at CDH. While things are constantly changing, we have always wanted to make sure our community has all the information they need.
August - CDH Welcomes Sean Van Gemert '96 as Director of Admissions
We're thrilled to have Van Gemert leading our Admissions team! His team has given personal tours to hundreds of families over the past few months, ensuring that we'll be able to welcome a fantastic Class of 2025 in the fall.
September - Welcoming New Faculty and Staff
School started with a few new faces on campus! We were glad to be able to welcome them, and they've all been a great part of helping CDH students succeed this year. We also welcomed two more teachers later in the fall.
October - Teachers Train on Swivl
We transitioned to a synchronous learning model about six weeks into the school year, where students who are learning from home still attend class virtually. Our faculty has done an amazing job of adjusting to new technology!
November - Support Raider Restaurants
We shared this list a few times throughout the year, and our community stepped up! Restaurants were hit hard this year, and we wanted to encourage our community to support the many great restaurants owned by Raiders.
December - Congratulations to Tri I Honor Roll Students!
Once again, our most popular article this month was celebrating the academic success of our students! Great work, Raiders!
We are so proud of the hard work and accomplishments of our community throughout a year that has brought many new challenges. Here's to a great 2021!
